Abdominal cramps due to constipation. Constipation because I didn't sleep last night nor a couple more nights before that. Didn't sleep because I had too much cocoa too late in the day. Had too much cocoa because I was drowsy from not sleeping previous nights. A cycle.
I felt helpless and mildly depressed about my constipation. I couldn't concentrate. I spent forever standing at the computer, trying to remember the Czech word for Friday. My medication didn't help, so I ended up wasting it, which is a problem because the VA won't ever give me enough of it.
I called my clinic's on-duty health provider and got a prescription for a new kind of suppository. Then I tried to complete my daily workout because exercise improves my mood and because I hate skipping workouts and because I needed to finish getting dirty so that I could hurry up and shower so that I could launder my bath towel because a lot of shit is dirty here and I cannot afford to do multiple loads of laundry. The pharmacy had been closed nearly an hour by the time I got there.
I could have gotten it all done earlier, but I couldn't call because I suddenly had no dial tone earlier today, and it took me a while to figure out that the phone cord had died. I could have called with this new cell phone I found, but I didn't want to use someone else's phone. It's not totally mine until no one has claimed it for a week, I've decided.
I finally couldn't take my memorization software's behavior anymore and started editing it today. Editing the code was the easy part. Building software is always a massive pain in the ass because there are always a zillion dependencies that need to be downloaded, and there's always a shitload of them that cannot be found in my distribution's repo. Then there are the random errors that pop up. That's where I'm stuck now. Something that one of the build tools is supposed to be downloading is throwing a 404 Not Found error. Since the tool works automatically, I'm not even sure where to start looking to fix this error. My Mandarin studies are suffering, so I'm committed to work through this, especially now that I've started.
So I exercised, got new meds, and started something I've been putting off.
I'm quite tired and I made sure to have cocoa only during the first part of the morning, so I'm confident that I'll sleep tonight.
Look, we've a new tag, "software development." I replaced two or three functions with 0 and a couple booleans with False and now I'm a software developer.
