I almost got hit by a car again a few days ago.

I've finally found a grain I can eat: soaked steel cut oats. I put them in the fridge overnight with some kind of vegan melk, cinnamon, fruit, and a sweetener. I heat them up without cooking them for a chewy breakfast. I tried cooking them before and had the same problem I've had with all grains (except wheat): they seem to digest too quickly and I feel hungry again too soon, which leads to overeating.

I started reading Michael Crichton's Eaters of the Dead today on the bus out of town. It's a short novel and I'm already halfway through it and just about to find out who or what is eating the dead. The narrator's description of the Vikings' treatment of womyn was disturbing and depressing and I considered quitting the book, however, I think there won't be more of that at this point.

Something I cringe to think about is how men think and feel when they create scenes of misogyny in their fiction. Since it's obvious that many men don't care about our suffering or, worse, enjoy it, it's possible that these authors and screenwriters and so forth feel nothing and use misogynistic violence purely for entertainment value, without thinking about how it will affect their audience, or, worse, they get a thrill out of including such content.

I've never liked reading historical fiction. I'm not much interested in history and I always feel terrible after reading about various groups of people being oppressed.
