I was trying on a pair of children's sunglasses, which I'd gotten from the boy's department. Didn't see any in the girl's department...interesting. Sunglasses for adults are too large for my head. The kids' glasses are nice and snug and don't fall off my face.

After I grabbed several pairs of glasses off the rack, I went looking for a mirror. I didn't want to go through the hassle of getting a dressing room, but trying on something did make me think about the awkwardness of trying on new clothes.

I remember one time I was shopping in a large department store that had the various clothing sections on different floors. I was on like the third floor, shopping in the boys' department, and I had some thinking to do when it came time to try on the clothes. I didn't want to go down a floor to the changing rooms in the women's department. Going into the girls' changing rooms seemed like it would creep people out because I was a fully grown adult (albeit not a large one), and going into the boys' changing rooms seemed off because I'm not male. I didn't even consider going into the men's rooms.

As I walked through the store, I was thinking about times I was mistaken for male, and thinking that I wouldn't be mistaken now because of my amount of body fat (which, in hindsight, seems weird because I was heavier when I was mistaken for male). So I finally found a mirror in the men's clothing department, and I was looking at myself in it when an employee trying to get by with a cart said, "Excuse me, sir." Since I'd just been looking at myself in the mirror, I was aware that my breasts and general female-pattern fat distribution were not really hidden (especially since I was bloated, as I am almost always now that I've got IBS). Since I'd just been so sure that I wouldn't pass as male, I was a bit surprised. I wonder whether the employee realized his mistake afterwards.

So I finally have a new pair of sunglasses, which is good because I've been so concerned about getting migraines from the sunlight, especially now that I'm spending an hour a day out in the sun to help my insomnia. I wasn't able to retrieve my last pair (the second pair I'd lost in about the last two months) because it turns out that the department of the bus I left the glasses on is over in the next county. My glasses are the swank aviator style, which I like because they block more sunlight. The only thing I dislike is that they are green and a medium shade of blue instead of darker colors.
