Finding and preparing language learning materials takes more time than learning itself. It takes forever to find and download podcasts, books, and videos at the appropriate levels, to download audio files, convert their file formats, and transfer them to my audio player.

I'm trying to move more of my learning to audio format so that I can take advantage of the hours I spend walking and thereby have more time at home to do other things. I found a Korean audio course taught in Spanish tonight (actually, a video course that I converted to audio only), so that takes care of Korean as well as some Spanish practice. It kills two pedestrians with one SUV, as I like to say.

Trying new insomnia treatments cannot happen every night because I can't go multiple nights in a row with so little sleep. My feet were warm in the laundry bag last night, but, as with the plastic bag, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't even doze, until I took it off. So I'm going back to my regular sleep routine tonight to make sure that I get at least my regular five hours.

My scalp has been intermittently itching since I stopped shampooing it. At first I thought dirt buildup was the cause, but nothing comes off my scalp when I scratch it. Somehow, my scalp is drier than it was when I was washing it. So today I started using the shea butter conditioner bar I gave up on because I thought it would give me build-up once I was no longer shampooing it out. I wanted to focus on my scalp so that my hair doesn't end up oily, but my hair is so short that I can't help but coat all of it. Oh well. It washes out well enough with water and friction alone, and my hair didn't feel particularly oily afterwards.

I've found that I'm able to stomach rice and noodle dishes more when I season them with coconut aminos instead of soy sauce. My cooked dishes have come to taste so acrid. Cooked veggies are fine but most other non-fruit foods are unpleasant.

One of today's new Mandarin vocabulary words was a region of Taiwan called Hualian (at least, that's what it's called in my French-Chinese dictionary). I looked it up online and was met with pictures of gorgeous beaches, fields, and rock formations, all under a clear blue sky. I want to go to Taiwan! I'm still working on a plan to get there.
